International "Digital UN" may become a real tool to protect the global community from cyber threats, says Yaroslav Bogdanov, Chairman of the Board of  Fund for  Protection of Investors' Rights in Foreign States. This is how the expert commented on the news about hackers breaking into computer networks that belong to the UN.

Bloomberg reported on Thursday, September 9, that hackers broke into UN computer networks and obtained data that could be used against the organization's agencies. The incident took place back in early 2021.

Aim of the attackers could be further long-term collection of intelligence data. As noted by Resecurity, the hackers gained access to the networks by purchasing stolen data from the UN employee's darknet account.

- The idea of creating "DigitalUnited Nations" has been around for a long time. The damage caused by hackers by their actions is already catastrophic. An independent international organization, including lawyers, businessmen and representatives of the IT sphere, could counteract them. The tasks of the "Digital UN" should be regulations and the concept of cyber tools, cyber security for all mankind, - said Mr. Bogdanov.

Earlier Yaroslav Bogdanov had already come up with the idea of creating a "Digital UN". This is one of the points of the Global Digital Alliance (GDA) concept- an International Digital Alliance based on the principles of transparency, equality and independence from national governments.

- The digitalization of humanity should be controlled by humanity alone. And the tools offered by the Global Digital Alliance are designed to help in this," the expert concluded.
