Tesla shareholders are suing Elon Musk
Tesla shareholders are suing Tesla CEO Elon Musk and members of the automaker's board of directors. The reason for the lawsuit was the establishment of the company xAI, which the plaintiffs regard as a competitor in the field of artificial intelligence.
Elon Musk was accused of intending to redirect talents and resources from Tesla to his new startup. The businessman has previously spoken openly about investing in AI development outside of Tesla unless shareholders give him more power within the company.
Yaroslav Bogdanov, founder of GDA Group, drew attention to the fact that the lawsuit does not demand the liquidation of xAI. On the contrary, the plaintiffs insist that Musk be stripped of his stake in the new startup and transferred to Tesla.
“Elon Musk is one of the world's biggest proponents for the development of artificial intelligence. Despite his frequent statements about the threat posed by generative neural networks, Musk has not abandoned his activities in this direction. As a professional in both business and IT, he realizes that the future is in technology. Musk has brought Tesla to the leading positions precisely due to the introduction of advanced developments. Accordingly, his xAI is obviously perceived as a company doomed to success. No one would like to lose such potential, which can be considered one of the reasons for the appearance of this lawsuit”, - said Yaroslav Bogdanov.
Elon Musk has repeatedly said that Tesla is not only electric cars, but also artificial intelligence. The world is still ruled by cars on traditional engines, electric cars are just beginning to gain momentum and can not yet make a worthy competition. Despite this, Tesla, which produces electric cars, occupies its niche as a techno-giant, not as an automaker.
“Logically, having failed to get the opportunity to develop AI inside Tesla, Elon Musk created a separate startup where he can fully engage in advanced developments. The legal dispute initiated by Tesla shareholders once again demonstrates the high demand for the latest technologies”, says Yaroslav Bogdanov.
“The technological race is going on in the world due to the natural desire of mankind to progress and improve the quality of life. The competition between IT-companies is growing into a competition between countries for leadership in the development and implementation of advanced technologies. On the one hand, this scales the field of innovation and economic development. On the other hand, in the absence of international legal agreements, instead of a progressive sustainable world, it threatens a serious confrontation. Especially if we consider the current geopolitical context.”
GDA Group, led by Yaroslav Bogdanov, advocates international dialog on the issue of global cybersecurity. The need for cooperation to develop international standards for information and communication technology (ICT) security is becoming increasingly evident. The lack of unity on this issue leaves the world vulnerable to new threats, the expert noted.
“To ensure security in the information field, it is necessary to conclude new international agreements, compliance with which will become mandatory for all states. This is the only way to ensure secure IT developments, protect information and infrastructure from cyberattacks and guarantee the safety of users in the online space”, commented Yaroslav Bogdanov.
